At Victory Life Baptist Church we believe in the Great Commission. Believers are instructed in Acts 1:8, to “…be my witnesses in Jerusalem, in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” We are to go outside our church, sharing the good news of Jesus Christ and making disciples of all. Many believe that this means we are be immersed in missions activities in foreign lands. While this is part of God’s plan, we believe the mission field is not only the foreign mission field, but that we reside in the midst of a mission field here in Lubbock, Texas.
We will give not only our financial support to the mission field, but of ourselves as well. We want our members to participate in missions and ministry activities here in Lubbock and in other countries. With this goal in mind, we will do all we can as Pastor and ministerial pastors to inform, educate, train and empower members to actively participate in missions and ministry opportunities.
Our purpose is to encourage and equip our members to become effectively and personally involved in leading people they come into contact with anywhere into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ. We want all our members to: Go and be a teacher to children; Go and be a construction worker for the homeless; Go and be a friend to the lost; Go and be the light of Christ in the world. Everyone has a role to play. You may feel that you are unequipped to go on mission trips or to be involved with one of our many local ministries—remember that God does not always call those who are equipped, but He does always equip those He calls.
Victory Life is involved in missions / ministry activities in three ways. First, we give 2% of tithes to the Southern Baptist Convention and this money then becomes distributed to missionaries serving throughout the world. Secondly, we will be involved in missions activities outside Lubbock. You may want to be involved with helping to construct or remodel churches in areas devastated by hurricanes like New Orleans, helping to build an orphanage or teach children in South America. Our goal is have several mission opportunities each year that our members can be involved in. The third missions and ministry area we will be involved in, is local opportunites in Lubbock and the surrounding area. Helping Hands Ministry is the umbrella for local ministry efforts that include helping to feed the needy and ministering to patients and family members in the hospitals.
